Fab Fab Fab...

Went over to the Fab shop to visit Teague @ Two Create Fab and check out the progress on the project. Seat is mounted up and looking good! Super stoked after we took some more measurements and worked on figuring out the next steps to getting the front fairing mounted up.
Tail is mounted on the custom subframe, started getting the fairing mounted.

Other side of the tail mounted.
Teague came up with this brilliant seat mount setup, impressive!
Even got the Penske rez mounted up!

Then we got notice tonight that the custom exhaust from Alan @ Racing Unlimited will be in our grubby little hands shortly!

Here is a sneak peek at the headers, gonna be a fun setup when we get it welded up!
So there is a few updates on the project, going to be getting some more stuff all figured out here over the next couple of weeks and hopefully have some more big advances in the build.

Stay Tuned and Go Broncos!!! ;)

Just-Us Racing back together again!

After about 5 years or more apart I was at the motorcycle show in Minnesota with my buddy Joey and we ran into James and had to do a quick photo op at the CRA booth where we all met and began roadracing together and became good friends.

These two guys are my lifeline for the Manx, I will be trusting them with everything and anything. It was so awesome to hang out tonight and catch up again!

Cheers Brothers!!!

Fabrication What?

Happy Friday everyone! Just-Us Racing & Project Supertwin would like to welcome Two Create LLC to the team! Teague Oliver will be handling all the odds and ends to get the fairings mounted, exhaust welded up, and any other fab stuff needed!

Next up we got the GPR damper all setup, since we will no longer be using an ignition switch we machined the front fuel tank bracket to hold the damper and it seems to be working perfectly.

Lastly, we got the Active Quick Throttle setup from Cal Sport over in the UK. We were a little worried when we got it as the package said 09-11 and we have a 12, but it all worked out perfectly and this is a Great piece of kit! Took maybe 15 minutes to install!

Lots of updates to come in a week or so! Thanks for following and stay tuned for some more progress SOON!

Who needs rear brakes and frame sliders anyway?

Gotta love the days when things fall into place!

HEL got the rear brake line to me today and everything installed quickly and easily! Thanks Guys!

Next up, the frame sliders from Yoshimura, good stuff, fit was just about perfect and I think we can use them to hold the fairings. Super stoked to get with the fab guys and get this body on and get rolling! Not alot of pics online of frame sliders for the 12+ bikes so here are a few I think will be helpful for people looking around online.

Cold and Cutting Stuff in Half!

So it has been a bit cold in the garage and the wife wasn't using the office so you know what that means right? Yep, workshop has been moved into the house! ;)

Then we started to work on the fitment of the front fairings, this is going to be a tad bit more difficult that we had previously expected BUT it is going to be pretty sweet when it is all fitted. Just is going to take the handywork of my buddy Nik and his fiberglass expertise!
Here we go, marking where to cut...

Back half of the tail is cut off, will trim to fit once a bit further.

And then there were 3... 3 pieces that is!
So now we are working on doing some test fitting and measuring to get the upper into place before we add in the necessary width to the bottom of the lower and get all the mounting brackets figured out. Trying to mount the fairings similar to how they mount up on my Honda RS250 GP Bike as they are simple to take on and off and are very solid.

Stay tuned, we are starting to have fun now!

Just Breathe...

BMC FM707/04 Race Air Filter Fitted
Sometimes it is the little things right? Just received a BMC Air Filter and put it in and as expected it fits perfectly... Now to get the airbox back in the bike and keep working on getting the bodywork fitted and hopefully the custom exhaust from Racing Unlimited gets here sometime in the next couple of weeks so we can get her up and running and then tear it all back down again!

The joys of building a racebike! Absolutely love working on these things, love racing them even more! C'mon spring, hurry up already!

Happy Holidays & New Sponsors!

With the holidays here and cooler weather here in Colorado I am all sorts of busy lately! The Great news of today though is that Chicken Hawk Racing has picked up Project Supertwin for 2014! We here at Just-Us Racing would like to give a "Very Warm" welcome to everyone at Chicken Hawk Racing for taking us on for the season and we look forward to working with you in the future!

For those of you that don't know, Chicken Hawk Racing makes some really nice tire warmers for everything from motorcycles to go karts to sports cars and dirt track stuff! Look them up for some really good products! We have ran them for many years and have never had an issue, brilliant product and great customer service!

With that we have quite a few things we are working on at the moment but nothing is ready to post up yet so we at Just-Us Racing would like to wish everyone Happy Holidays and we hope everyone has a great time with family and friends over the Holiday Season.

Cheers!

Happy Thanksgiving from Project Supertwin!

Well, we have not had too much happening in the Just-Us Racing race shop here in Colorado!

Waiting on a few things and then we can get back to it, making plans now to go to the Isle of Man in August for the practice week of the Manx GP. Hoping to get a little more of this giant puzzle figured out and see how they run things over on the Rock!

Kind of amazing to me all of the options to get to the Isle of Man and flying in is seeming to be the best/most reasonable way to get there. Was going to rent a car over in Ireland and ferry over but the ferry pricing is ridiculous to say the least so flying in is the way I am going! Visiting Joey's Bar is going to have to wait until 2015 I guess...

On other fronts I am also working on getting signed up for the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, this will be my first "Real" Road Race and I am so stoked! I can't wait!!!

With that we will have some new updates coming soon, plenty of stuff in the works and it is gonna be good! Wishing all of you in the states a Happy Thanksgiving and hope everyone has a great time with family and friends.

Cheers!

Some new sponsors in the progress of Project Supertwin!

This weekend is gonna be fun!
First off we would like to welcome a couple of companies that have come on board with the project!

First up this beauty showed up yesterday from Moto-Heaven/HEL USA:
GPR V4 Steering Stabilizer

Then, this afternoon this arrived from Air Tech:
New Style Honda RS250 A-Kit Tail
So now I know all of you are probably thinking, that looks good and all, but how is it gonna look on the bike???? Well, I got home from work and played around with this stuff a little and.....
After looking we will be modifying the tank mount and making this work easily!
A little trimming and subframe building will happen this weekend!

Sexy Rear End... Don't mind the lawn tools, leaves are killing me!
So Just-Us Racing would like to give Phil @ Moto-Heaven/HEL USA and Dutch @ Air Tech a very warm welcome to the team! We look forward to working with you in the future on this crazy path to the Isle of Man Manx GP!
Cheers!

Have I mentioned I Hate wiring?

Marking and splitting the harness up so we can get rid of the nonsense that we don't need!

I almost cried trying to figure this out!

That's a little better!

Adam checking out the seating position and seeing some decent progress.
More pieces of the puzzle keep arriving day by day here at Just-Us Racing's HQ in Colorado! Adam and Nik have been hard at work getting all the misc brackets and bolts all figured out. Along with the wiring nightmare of a bike with fuel injection and a sensor for pretty much anything and everything you can and can't think of! My Honda RS250 was so much easier to work on!!! Got some more stuff arriving this week so this weekend will be a race bike weekend, stay tuned for some more updates!

Is that an Engine getting installed???

2012 Ninja 650 Engine with only 153 miles on it arrived Friday!

Engine looks like it wants to be installed doesn't it?

Getting the engine installed required the help of my lovely wife Sue. ;)

One engine installed!

Pretty stoked to have the shock and engine in!
Well, that was interesting! Friday afternoon the engine and a bunch of electronics arrived and then I left to go up to Steamboat Springs for the weekend... Needless to say my mind was almost always thinking about putting this engine in and getting the rest of the components all figured out! So when we got home tonight the first thing I did was start putting the engine in! Heck I even got the wife to help!!! She puts up with me I think... Surprised she keeps me around honestly! Hahaha!!!

So now we have a wiring harness to work on cutting up and turning into a race harness and hopefully some bodywork arrives here this week so we can start cutting parts off the frame that we don't need!

Stay tuned for more progress reports soon!

Shocking Day!!!

Penske 8987 3-Way w/Lindemann Engineering Race Compression Stack

And so it begins, installing more goodies to get the project "rolling" Literally!!! We now have a rolling chassis now that the Penske shock arrived today! Woot Woot!

After some discussions with Ed Sorbo @ Lindemann Engineering we decided on the Penske 8987 3-Way Adjustable Unit with the Lindemann Engineering Race Compression Stack for the project, the adjustability of this unit will help with trying to tame the Mountain Course over on the Isle of Man and will be capable of doing pretty much anything we want it to do anywhere else. I am super stoked to get the bike up and running and see what this baby handles like!

Huge thanks to Ed, he is a stand up guy and can make just about anyone go faster by turning knobs and changing things on suspension components... I would like to see him wear some crazy Dr clothing with a "Mad Genius" hat on or something but that may not be professional enough!

So, if you need suspension work done, call this place:

Stay tuned as some more updates and items are arriving over the next few days!!!

The Easy Way To Install A ZX6R Rear Wheel On A Ninja 650

New Spacer Kit and Machined Hub to fit the ZX6R Rear Wheel.
Been a little while since the project has gotten any action!

Blue Ridge Performance has a brilliant little kit to adapt the larger 5.5" rear wheel from a ZX6R into the ER-6 swingarm, he machines the hub to line up the sprocket and has spacers made so you use the stock ZX6R wheel bearings and is pretty slick. If you are looking to upgrade to a 180 rear tire on your 650 check him out!
