Wow, time has flown by this season! Not all in a good way either, our last post was of Adam assembling the Supertwin after getting the frame powdercoated. Will try and take it from there and give you guys a quick run through this season!
March 15th we had the Supertwin and the 125 loaded up to head out to High Plains Raceway.
We headed out to the track and Adam jumped on the wee 125 to go check out the gearing and jetting for a few laps... Well, an inner clutch hub bolt broke and jammed the engine up on him and high sided him pretty good at the top of turn 13. Got up and the left shoulder wasn't so good and we loaded up everything and headed back home to go get checked out.
Between that day and the Wednesday after the damage was a level 3 AC Seperation, broken radial head on the radius, and a pretty badly broken scaphoid in the left wrist. Unfortunately the scaphoid is one of the slowest healing bones in the body we found out and required surgery to put a screw in it to hold everything together. March 30th Adam had surgery and came out with some new titanium hardware in his wrist.
So now the game was to see if we would be in good enough shape to race Pikes Peak in June, the docs were skeptical but we made plans to go ahead with being ready to race up the mountain. Unfortunately we suffered a double blow the day after the surgery Adam's father passed away, Harold Bauer Jr (Harry) was a huge supporter of Adam's racing and had raced himself over in Japan in the 60's. He was one hell of a good guy and his larger than life laugh and his joking will be sadly missed.
Had always heard about his race bike over in Japan, he never was able to find the pictures of it to show us. While we were going through everything we found a shoebox hidden under some old records. Guess what we found:
A Honda CR93 little 125cc twin would be quite the little screamer wouldn't it? Now we know why he was always into the cafe racer type bikes with the long skinny tanks! ;)
Scars & Casts... Will leave you with these last two pics, the next post will pick up from here!
Cheers!
